In
Kindermusik for the Young Child
classes, your child will meet
composers, discover music of other countries, learn how to read musical
rhythms and pitches and play them on instruments all while enjoying fun
musical games and songs!
Play remains the primary way a Young Child
learns, so throughout the
curriculum there is a consistent effort to balance active learning with
the emotional reasoning aspects of a young child’s development in mind.
Kindermusik for the Young Child curricula offers a
pressure-free approach to learning
which is often more age-appropriate (and fun!) than piano or other
instrumental lessons, but concrete enough to stimulate his mind which is
ready for the abstract thinking processes that music requires. And
four sequential semesters
allow your child to grow through Kindermusik, developing skills that
lead to successful experiences in later music instruction.
Kindermusik Athens, GA
In every semester of
Young Child children will learn about rhythms, pitches,
musical concepts and terminology, composers, multi-cultural music and
more!!!! Semester 1
broadens the child's musical experience through the introduction of the
glockenspiel (an instrument similar to a xylophone). Developing
steady beat and learning to read and write musical notation in this
class will help build a firm foundation for future success in music
instruction. Semester 2
continues exploration of the glockenspiel as we further study notation
and the staff, playing the notation we are learning to read! In
Semesters 3 & 4
we'll continue our musical journey, learning more about rhythms and
pitches while playing the glockenspiel, dulcimer and recorder - allowing your
Young Child to explore the 3 basic types of instruments he may later
study in private lessons:
Keyboard: Glockenspiel ---> Piano
String: Dulcimer
-------> Guitar or Violin Family
Wind: Recorder
-------> Brass or
Woodwind Instruments
Integrates singing, listening, vocal development, movement and
instrument play to allow multi-faceted learning of musical concepts
and terms
Introduces music literacy (begins to read and write musical
notation)
Familiarizes children with instruments, composers, music of
other cultures, musical form, composition, etc.
Helps you and your child recognize special interests or
skills for future formal music instruction, such as piano or
guitar lessons, choir, band, or orchestra
Enjoy the Journey All Week Long!
Kindermusik is much more than a weekly class and your Home Materials
are
just the tools you need to continue that one-of-a-kind experience
together as a family. While your child's musical experience begins in the classroom, the Home
Materials allow you to extend and reinforce musical activities to cultivate
lifelong learning and musical enjoyment. Family involvement
in your child's learning experience is a
fundamental cornerstone of the Kindermusik philosophy - we believe
the parent is the child’s most important teacher and the home is the
most important place for a child to learn and grow. There’s no better way to nurture your child’s development –
and you’ll love making music together – every
day!
